Day 1: Explore the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Bund
Start your day by visiting the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower. At 468 meters high, it is one of the tallest towers in Asia. The tower has several observation decks, including one at the very top which offers a stunning view of the city.
Afterward, take a stroll down to the Bund, Shanghai's famous waterfront promenade. It offers some of the best views of the city's skyline, both during the day and at night. You can also take a river cruise to see the Bund from a different perspective.
Day 2: Discover the French Concession and Yu Garden
Start your day in the French Concession, a charming area full of tree-lined streets, old houses, and boutique shops. Be sure to visit Tianzifang, a labyrinth of alleyways packed with small shops, cafes, and art galleries. Next, head over to the Jing'an Temple, one of Shanghai's oldest and most significant temples.
In the afternoon, make your way to Yu Garden, a picturesque traditional Chinese garden in the heart of the city. The garden was built in the sixteenth century and features beautiful pavilions, rockeries, and ponds. It is also home to a bustling bazaar where you can find all sorts of souvenirs and snacks.
Day 3: Experience Modern Shanghai
Start your day by exploring Xintiandi, one of Shanghai's trendiest neighborhoods. It is full of shops, cafes, and restaurants housed in beautifully restored traditional shikumen houses. You can also visit the nearby Shanghai Museum, which has an extensive collection of Chinese art and artifacts.
In the afternoon, head over to Pudong, the modern financial district on the other side of the Huangpu River. Here, you can visit the Shanghai Tower, the second-tallest building in the world, or the Shanghai World Financial Center, which has an observation deck with breathtaking views. You can also check out the Jin Mao Tower and the nearby Shanghai Disneyland.
